Restarant concepts
While working for Universal Orlando Resort, my team was tasked with creating an original concept food and beverage location for their theme parks. After partnering with multiple lines of businesses, the following is a brief accumulation of what was presented for official review by the concept team that implements not only solid design, but also complete feasibility in the current market for food and beverage in their parks.
Sungrove Barbecue
Narrative
Although a full narrative was developed, this is a simplified version of the story behind Sungrove Barbecue. Long ago, the Cortez family citrus farm began losing business due to new highway construction. In response to shifting tourist culture, they transformed it into a roadside attraction featuring Arthur, a 20-ton alligator. When CityWalk was developed, they refused to sell their land and instead opened Sungrove Barbecue, built around Great Grandpa Victor’s classic recipes. The images shown are environmental vignettes that hint at this larger story.

The exterior is intentionally self-made, featuring hand-painted signage, layered decor, and remnants from the Cortez family’s former businesses.
Menu
Our menu draws on the flavors of Florida and the Caribbean, integrating them into classic barbecue dishes to create something both approachable and distinctive. The result is a unique offering within CityWalk and within barbecue as a whole. Paired with sweet aromas and a highly themed environment, the experience is designed to capture attention and establish Sungrove as a new destination within the area.
Storm Chasers
Narrative
Although a full narrative was created, here is a simplified version of the story we seek to tell at Storm chasers. A rag tag team of college students have taken to the hobby of storm chasing. using whatever tools they have at their disposal, they use their heavily modified van to chase storms and harness these weather system's energies to create drinks. pictured here are a few environmental vignettes that hint at this story.
Menu
Our menu features dirty sodas inspired by different weather phenomenas. each drink is meant to be highly instagramable and themed to create a highly entertaining food experience that takes advantage of the highly popular dirty soda concept. each drink also has a recommended alcohol that, with an up charge, can "chase" their drink. This makes everything highly approachable for all age ranges and makes for a highly modular fast service kiosk location.

The exterior is a reconstructed storm-chasing van that has just returned from a mission and is in need of maintenance. Built by college students, the piece reveals visible repair seams and subtle traces of their personal lives throughout the vehicle.
